The Hidden Game Continues-To Masquerade Anchor Text

December 2nd, 2008 by Author

Prankster on the internet instead of capitalizing their website presence with QUALITY LINKS try to misguide GOOGLE by playing with the google link algorithm and linking strategies to gain ranking in search engines by creating fleeting impressions and billboard attention for particular search terms.

But before discussing google bombs let me tell you what it is all about: Google Bombs is a mischievous act of bringing other unrelated websites at the top of SE ranking for a specific search term in order to improve its search result by vilifying google link analysis algorithm. If number of different unrelated websites link to one website for a particular search term (anchor text) just for the sake of a higher ranking in google, then in a very short duration the site is ‘Google Bombed’ for that search term.

These mischievous web players neither conquer link building obstacles nor work hard to get top ranking, instead they just hack google algorithm and get listed higher in SERP in couple of days, but when they get traced by google it unmasks them and they remain as goggle misfit.

There are numbers of well known google bombs; “Miserable Failure” targeting President George W. Bush was one of the earliest; “Talentless Hack” with this key phrase Adam Mathes associated his friend Andy Pressman site and asked all visitors to link back to it. The site received top ranking for this keyword but later was google bombed. “Jew”, “Martin Luthur King” and many more key phrases were GB.

The competition is fierce, so to succeed you need to prepare and then to perform, but the prank web players play with the google algorithm. The high ranking result that thrust upon them for the particular search term does not stay much after and they are out of race. Google remains undefeatable, most trustworthy platform and inspiring for all web users to quench their thirst for all sorts of queries.

Google Bomb another aspect is for Domain Name owners setting all DNS entry and directing all sub domains to the same server. Every sub domain is considered unique by the google and all the links coming from sub domains add to increase the page rank of the website.

Quality links (inbound, outbound, back links), keyword density, anchor text and content play a major role in determining ranking and web page relevance for Google. Links are like zero in arithmetic. They may not be much in themselves but they are capable of adding a great value in optimizing your website.

Google remains trustworthy for all the internet users by conciliating Google Bomb with the help of its new algorithm. Listed below are the consequences of the google updated algorithm to stop GB:

  1. You can run google bomb detection algorithm to prevent Google Bomb to occur. As a preventive measure google suggests to take care of quality and quantity of back links to a website. There should not be lot of back links coming to a site for an anchor text not existing on the web page and its frequency should not be higher than the desires threshold frequency.
  2. Google has modified its link strategy and has set new linking standards giving highest priority to organic link building, spectrum is not limited to anchor text but has stretched out. The anchor text should link to the related landing page, home page and inner pages of website in proportion to overcome GB anomalies.
  3. Still google new GB detection algorithm is not synchronized with all data centre and will take some time.
  4. Many SEM companies, webmasters are unable to survive this new algorithm update. It is also a threat for link builders who are still unaware of the google new algorithm and working hard for their link campaign.
  5. Lots of google bombs have occurred, but google new algorithm has eliminated many. Example: cracked google bomb: George W. Bush website no longer can be found associated with the search term “Miserable Failure”. Search term “I fell lucky” still points to French Military victories and receives top ranking in google, is yet to be defused.

Success will be at your step if you take care of these steps and master these SMO tools to take your business to height.

The Truth About Search Engine Optimization

December 1st, 2008 by Author

Search engine optimization – or SEO – has been around for pretty much as long as search engines have. Over the years, it has gained both proponents and opponents – many for good reason. The prevalence of sneaky, underhanded tactics, increasing spam in the search engine indexes, and publicized cases of websites being banned from the listings have given SEO a bad rap.

“SEO is just about tricking the search engines,” some claim.

In an effort to de-bunk this and other wayward SEO beliefs, we have developed a list of ‘top 5 myths about SEO’.

#1 – SEO is all about tricking the search engines

In actuality, good, honest SEO is not about tricking, but analyzing search engine algorithms in an effort to develop websites in a way that consciously supports search engines in doing their job – that is providing the most relevant content to their users. “White hat” SEOers understand that what’s good for users is also typically good for search engines, and they strive to not ‘trick’ search engines, but be forthright in giving them exactly what they want.

#2 – SEO is all about the meta-tags

In a previous life, webmasters would stuff the meta-keyword tag with their desired terms, and voila!, a top spot in the rankings. SEO was about the meta-tags and not much else. Whether this approach worked then or not, it most certainly does not today. In addition to the multitude of other ‘on page’ ranking factors that now seem to matter (such as keyword-rich copy, anchor text, and file names), sites now more than ever have to look ‘off site’ – most importantly, at the volume and quality of their inbound links.

#3 – You only have to do SEO once

A recipe for SEO failure: optimize your pages once, obtain great rankings, and let simmer forever. On the contrary, successful SEO requires on-going evaluation and tweaking of strategies in order maintain and enhance positioning. With search engine algorithms changing by the hour, searcher behaviour maturing, and the competitive environment constantly shifting, does it stand to reason that your rankings today will remain the same 6 months – or weeks – from now? Without an on-going commitment to SEO, probably not.

#4 – Anyone can do SEO right

You read an e-book on SEO. You attended an SES conference. You’re now a seasoned SEO expert, right? Wrong. Although SEO is definitely NOT rocket science, it does take a level of knowledge, and most importantly, experience, to really succeed. The knowledge that comes from testing out various techniques and working with a wide variety of websites over time is invaluable. Knowing how and why to select the right keywords is crucial, and understanding the impact of the site’s design and coding on SEO is just as important. The bottom line: Yes, anyone can ‘do’ SEO, but it’s much more difficult to really do it right.

#5 – SEO is purely the webmaster’s job

Your webmaster is responsible to make sure that the front and back end of the site performs as it should. They are typically a technical person; a programmer. They are definitely not marketers. They might implement the SEO changes to the site, but actually determining what should be changed should be in the hands of the content authors and marketing/comm people in your organization. Hoisting the full responsibility for SEO on the webmaster’s shoulders can produce less than desirable results as these ‘techies’ struggle to imagine what a customer would type into a search engine, and then attempt to massage these words into your agency-perfected copy. Instead, make optimization a collective initiative – ideally with the guidance of an SEO expert - and give your webmaster a break.

Now that you know the truth about SEO, spread the word!

5 Basic SEO Tips That Create SE Friendly Web Sites

November 30th, 2008 by Author

The simple solution to this problem is to implement the following basic SEO tips and spend the rest of your time building links and content. These tips may be fairly common to the more experienced Webmaster but if you are not using them, you are losing traffic.

1. Implement unique META titles and descriptions for all of your pages. Many Webmasters begin their first web site without META description and title tags at all. Once they learn that, SEO wise, it is very important to do so, they add them but they are not unique. Each title and description should be unique to each individual page.

2. Add an HTML sitemap to your site. This is a single page that includes links to the main pages of your websites. If your site is small you may want to include every page while larger sites should just have links to the most important pages. Sitemaps are an import part of SEO optimization because they give the search engines a ‘hub’ where their spiders can find all of your pages through one single page.

3. Target ‘long tail’ keywords in your sub pages. Long tail keywords are those that are not as highly competitive as your main keyword. Target a fairly competitive keyword for your index page and less competitive keywords for all sub pages. Many Webmasters have a bad habit of targeting the same few keywords throughout their entire site; because of this they are losing valuable traffic to inner pages.

4. Use underline, bold, strong and italics tags on each pages keywords. This SEO tip is one that has proven to be very valuable. Search Engines give more weight to words that are using these tags. Do not over do it, implementing these tags at least two or three times would cut it.

5. Use H1 and H2 tags with your main and secondary keywords. Most SE’s give a lot of weight to words that are wrapped in these tags. Each page on your web site should have one or two targeted keywords at the beginning of the page. Just add < h1 >keyword< /h1 > to the main keyword and the same for your secondary keyword replacing h1 with h2 and deleting the spaces.

If you have not been using the above tips in your SEO strategy then you have been missing out on quality targeted traffic. Implement these tips as soon as possible and you will start to notice an increase in visitors.

Google, BackRub, Backlinking, and the Link Hunting Obsession that Takes Its Toll

November 29th, 2008 by Author

Google is currently one of the dominant entities on the net period. The question is - is it really that omnipotent, is it really that advantageous. The question is – IS IT REALLY “ALL THAT”.

To understand role of Google in the modern net society we need to go deep into its roots. Google was born at hands of Larry Page (rich boy) and perfected by Sergey Brin (russian rich boy) at Stanford University. The idea was to rank internet pages based on number of other pages linking back. For Brin it was sort of academic approach to web page ranking where web page would model for academic paper and back links it receives would model for number of citations that academic paper accounts for. Very interesting model indeed and in a sense is very useful in the academics; bus is this model as useful in the world of internet information ranking? Does this formula objectively represent the way any given website or webpage should be ranked among other competitors? Let me be the first one to disagree.

The Google that we are all using now is a very different Google that it used to be. Thanks to brains of Brin it has evolved from simply counting backward links to an algorithm that is protected better than our troops on a foreign soil. However, the basic idea is still the same and ranking is given based on number of links your site receives from other relevant sources. So what is the problem, you might ask. Lets imagine that you have created a brand new website that centers on certain topic of interest. Lets imagine that you are an expert in that topic and you have created the best website ever on that particular topic: it covers more information than any other source on the net, it offers simplicity in navigation, it offers largest and well organized library of sources on that particular topic, it complies with w3 standards, and it even can be seen in any browser in the world including all the hand held devices. That perfect site which would be very useful to many individuals around the world would end up at the bottom of the Google ranking system unless you spend countless hours trying to get links from relevant sites, trying to pay for fraudulent looking link services, getting frustrated, and still ending up at the bottom of the Google ranking system because some of your competitors have figure out a way to create numerous doorway pages, link scams, and so on. Just because your perfect site does not account for a large number of backwards links will bring your ranking down and will bring down with it all your hard work and desire to share your expertise with others. Some day you Google up that perfect site’s key word, that common sensed key word that should bring your perfect site at the top of the search results. You look at the results and you realize that there is nothing but bunch of irrelevant pages full of advertising and its all due to the fact that some geeks know how to beat the system. Now you tell me – is that a fare way of ranking pages?

Google and its strategy brought plenty of hardship to ordinary website owners. Instead of updating and perfecting their sites owners have to hunt for links using all available means. Most of the time site owners are getting trapped into services that are questionable in nature. This environment creates numerous pitfalls for web surfers as well. Web surfers become victims of doorway pages with meaningless and countless key word links, smart redirect pages that throw you to places full of ads, and bad websites that managed to get gazillions links using their questionable techniques. All that commotion creates nothing but bad experience for anyone who is in search of information on the internet. Is that how the search engine should work, is that how omnipotent search engine should work, is that how billions making search engine should work?

Writing Search Engine Friendly Webpages

November 28th, 2008 by Author

In order to tap the huge stream of targeted traffic an internet search engine can provide a website you need to master a few common sense principles when crafting your webpages.

You can rest assured no sites receive top search engine rankings by chance in competitive keyword markets. They spend time and money to acquire and maintain their search engine positioning. Targeting your keyword market precisely and applying the principles in this article will help you compete in any keyword marketplace.

When crafting your web pages for the search engines remember that a search engine spider is not human. They only read the html code for your website, they do not actually “see” what your site looks like.

1. Use static html pages not dynamically generated web pages wherever you can. Some dynamically created WebPages are not indexable by the search engines. If they can’t index your pages you might as well not exist no matter how useful your website might be.

2. Use your main keywords in meta “ title ” tag, meta “ description ” tag, and meta “ keywords ” tags. This tells the search engines what you feel the webpage is about.

3. Use your keywords in the first line of your web page “ body ” and within “ header ” tags throughout your html document. Use “ bolding” of keywords where appropriate. Using your keywords within bold and header tags makes them stand out as important. Also having them near the beginning of your web page is also an indicator of importance in the search engine’s eyes.

4. Use your keywords in img ” alt ” and link ” title ” tags. These tags don’t show up as visible text but they can help give a search engine a better idea of what your link is about. Resist the urge to stuff a lot of keywords into these tags but definitely use them to your advantage and place a select few of your most important keywords in there.

5. Don’t use a lot of tables in your html. Use css style sheets to store webpage “style” definitions if you can. Storing style information in Css reduces the overall size of your WebPages considerably allowing them to load much faster.

6. Don’t use a lot of outbound or affiliate links within your webpage. Keep your web pages focused on providing content first, not making money. . Search Engine’s don’t like WebPages that are just filled with affiliate links and banners. These pages have little or no content and do not score well because of this.

7. Maintain a high “visible text: graphics” ratio on your webpage. This is a similar idea to 6 plus your pages will load faster with less graphics on them.

8. Repeat your major keyword phrases near the end of your webpage in a sentence with the keywords bolded. Optionally place a short sentence in a header tag.

After you have created your webpage and applied these principles upload the page to your web host and visit the following URL to analyze your work:

Earn Money Online Non-stop by Generating Stampedes of Traffic Using Only Free Methods Part 1

November 27th, 2008 by Author

Let’s face it, you can set up the most beautiful site in the world by the most professional web designers and still make zero profit if you do not know how to promote your site. What you need is traffic! Without traffic, your site is like a mansion in the middle of the Sahara desert and nobody will ever visit you. You need tons and herds of traffic that will cause a stampede and trample your site in an unstoppable manner! Only then can you earn money online non-stop and blow your profits through the roof.

But what happens if you are starting your online business on a shoestring budget and still need traffic. Well, the good thing about the internet is that it can allow the “little guy” to earn money online along with the big boys even with a low starting budget. With a bit of effort, the little guy can succeed as much as the big boys do. The following are some of the free methods to generate massive traffic to your site and let you earn money online with absolutely no costs at all.

1. Article Writing and Submission

This is by far the most rewarding free method and has stood the test of time as a powerful traffic generation strategy. Using your expertise and knowledge to write compelling and informational articles and submitting them to online article directories will reward you with more benefits than you can imagine. Your articles will come with your own resource box where you are allowed to place your own description and website links in them and allow the reader to click through to your website. Readers who like the information in your articles are going to perceive you as an expert in the field and are already pre-sold thus gaining you immediate credibility. By the time they reach your site, you are an expert in their eyes and whatever you sell on your site will seem like a million dollars to them and you will earn money online effortlessly.

Another huge benefit of article writing and submission include the backlinks that lie in the resource box. Many article writers who have no search engine optimization knowledge (SEO) will perceive the resource box as only a gateway to their site. But article writers with SEO knowledge will understand that backlinks are actually an important aspect of ranking high in search engines to earn money online. The text used with the backlinks known as “anchor text” determine what keywords your website will actually rank high in. This brings us to the next free traffic generation technique.

2. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Contrary to what many people say, search engine optimization (SEO) is not rocket science. With a little study and research, you will discover that the common techniques to rank high for the keywords you want are actually very simple. Here are some simple tips to get you going with SEO to earn money online the free way.

SEO starts off with on-page optimization. The page that you want to rank high for the specific keyword you want should ideally be centered on that keyword. What do you mean by centered on the keyword? It means the topic of your webpage should be focused on that keyword. Your page title, H1 H2 header tags, image tag, first and last paragraphs should have the keyword in it. The keyword density which is the number of times your keyword appears in the total number of words on the page should ideally be between 3-5% according to SEO experts. All these will contribute to your page ranking higher for the keyword you are gunning for and allow you to earn money online with ease. However, on-page optimization is not the only factor. Another major factor is off-page optimization.

Off-page optimization basically refers to off the page factors that can increase your ranking in the search engines. This is the part where a bit more effort is required to gain the traffic you desire. The most important off-page factor that affects the ranking of your webpage is the number of backlinks and the focus of the pages that are linking to your page. The pages that link to your page should ideally have the same focus as your page and thus are highly relevant to the content of your page. The anchor text used to link to your page should also consist of your keyword and the more of such backlinks you have the higher your page will rank in the search engines. Combining good on-page and off-page optimization is a deadly strategy for getting floods of free traffic that will let you earn money online non-stop.

The above two techniques serve as a starting point to generate hordes of free traffic and let you earn money online successfully. So take action now and bring your site out of the desert and let the world see its beauty. Be sure to read part 2 of the article to find out more powerful free traffic generation methods.

A Self Publisher Can Ignore SEO, Ignore PPC And Still Be A Huge, Sensational Success

November 26th, 2008 by Author

If you are the sort of online self publisher who winces every time they come across the words SEO or PPC, here is some news to get your blood boiling with excitement.

You can ignore SEO, you can ignore paying out valuable dollars for PPC (pay-per-click) traffic and you can also ignore other success basics like building an opt-in email list and still end up being a very successful online self publisher.

It is interesting how SEO (search engine optimization) has become a nightmare to many a self publisher in recent times when search engines rules have been changing too drastically and too frequently. It is now common to have your site virtually wiped out overnight from search engine rankings because of a sudden change in policy. It is a nightmare many self publishers have had to live with.

This makes any talk of throwing SEO into the nearest dustbin all the more exciting for many self publishers.

But just how realistic is it and what will replace these trusted traffic generation tools?

Actually the truth is that in recent times a number of bloggers have demonstrated how powerful simply cultivating an appropriate image can be. Brands spend millions building an image and many untalented celebrities continue to earn millions simply because of the reputation they have carefully and deliberately developed over time.

Apparently a blog is also a medium of communication that can be used powerfully to build a desired image quickly and virtually overnight. Some bloggers have simply taken cautious aim at a well know name in their industry and fired a well constructed and carefully thought-out salvo of criticism at them. The effects have been amazing. Some of these blogs have picked up several hundred high traffic links within a few hours and overnight they have become famous as the blogger who challenged Goliath.

No SEO, no purchase of links and certainly no advertising and yet a self publisher moves from oblivion to stardom and a huge audience in one deft stroke. It is certainly not easy but it is definitely worth studying and developing the necessary image building skills that will enable any publisher to ignore SEO and get way with it.

Real Estate SEO - Optimizing Your Website Content

November 25th, 2008 by Author

Advanced Summary:

This article pertains to real estate search engine optimization (SEO). In this article’s usage, real estate SEO is the act of improving a real estate agent’s website for better search engine visibility.

Optimizing Your Body Content

We begin this lesson with a reminder that readers come first, and search engines second. When creating your page content, strive to create something of value for the reader. Create helpful, well-organized content related to your various services / sub-topics. If you focus on helping the reader with relevant content, half the search engine battle is already won.

It’s also worth noting that other websites will be more inclined to link to yours if it’s full of valuable information. As more and more websites link to yours, it increases your “link popularity,” which in turn improves your search engine visibility.

Segment Topics and Pages

When writing the content, don’t try to include all of your key phrases on any given page. That would be too much of everything, and it would prevent the search engines from determining the primary focus of the page. For best search engine results, each page should have a primary focus that supports the overall theme of your website.

If the overall theme of your site is San Diego real estate, then one of your pages might be about buying condos in San Diego (if that’s one of your specialties). In this case, you might have a page that focuses on the specific topic of buying condos in San Diego. In fact, that might even be your HTML page title: “Buying a condo in San Diego - Tips for Success.”

Want an easy way to come up with topic ideas for your pages? Just revisit your list of key search phrases (you have one, right?). If you’ve chosen your key phrases wisely, they will dictate the content you should have on your website. Then it’s just a matter of creating a page (or pages) to support each key phrase. One way to achieve this is to add article pages to your website. An article of 300 - 500 words will allow you to integrate your key phrases in a natural way.

Also, be sure the page content is a direct extension of the page’s title element. Search engines will compare the content of your web pages to the titles for those pages. The two should match. The key phrase in your title should be carried over into the actual page content.

When you think about it, this should happen automatically. For instance, if you have a page about the real estate market in Sarasota, Florida, a good title might be “Sarasota Real Estate: All About the Sarasota Real Estate Scene.” This title would then match the body content of the page. The page’s content is a direct extension of the title. Good for readers, and good for search engines!

How To Get Number 1 Spot In Google, Every Time, Guaranteed

November 24th, 2008 by Author

Woaah! Wait a minute. Before I exclusively reveal these insider secrets can I ask you question? Well, actually, I want to ask you a series of questions.

Why do you want to get Number 1 in Google?

“Because it’s good to be there isn’t it? It means my website is the best out there.”

Well, no, it doesn’t. Why do you really want to be Number 1 in Google?

“Well, everyone wants to be Number 1 don’t they? If I’m right at the top everyone will see my business and customers will come flooding to my website in their thousands.”

They might. But it depends what you’re top for. Have you thought what you would like to be top for in Google?

“My company, ABC Widgets Limited, comes top in Google when you type in ‘ABC Widgets Limited’. That’s pretty impressive isn’t it?”

No, frankly, it is not. How many other websites do you think are competing for the phrase ‘ABC Widgets Limited’? There won’t be very many unless there are others out there who share your company name. Why is being top for your company name any use?

“Because people looking for us on Google will find our website”.

Big deal. You need to be found by the thousands of people already out there looking for what you provide that don’t know your company name. They don’t know what you look like. They don’t know where you’re based. They don’t even know you exist! What sorts of search phrases do you think they will be typing in on Google?

“Phrases like ‘widget suppliers’, ‘widget sales online’ and things like that?”

Yes - you’ve got it! But are you listed Number 1 on Google for phrases like that?

“No. We’re nowhere to be seen Michael. I think I’ve been patient enough with you though now answering your questions. Please will you reveal the secrets of getting Number 1 on Google?”

No, I won’t.

“Why not?!”

3 Reasons I’m Not Going To Reveal How To Get Number 1 Spot In Google, Every Time, Guaranteed

Reason 1 - There Are No Insider Secrets

Getting a high listing on Google, or any other search engine, is a combination of hard work, having the right phrases on your website, having lots of great content on your website, having lots of other highly-ranked websites linking to you and having your website built in the right way. There are no short-cuts, no magic bullets and no insider-secrets.

Reason 2 - Getting Number 1 on Google Is The Tip Of The Website-Marketing-Iceberg

If you focus on getting Number 1 on Google and nothing else it will never happen. You need to focus on all the other elements I mentioned above and especially on developing reciprocal links with other relevant websites. Remember - the top website marketing experts in the world (who do nothing else but market websites day-in, day-out) only attract a fraction of their website visitors from search engines.

This is not because their websites don’t have a high ranking in the search engines (because they do and many of them will have that elusive Number 1 spot!) - it’s because they attract so much more traffic from other places such as directories, associates’ websites, reciprocal links etc.

Reason 3 - It’s Too Dangerous

When you were a child how many times did you hear the following phrase?

“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”

And yet day after day I hear people asking how they can get top on Google. There are websites dedicated to ‘the art’. People become obsessive about it and many derive their entire livelihood from visitors they get from Google searches. The result?

When Google makes a big change to how they rank the websites in their index (which they did in November last year and to a lesser extent in January this year) many of these Google-dependent businesses actually WENT UNDER. That’s right - bankrupted because of an over-night change made by the powers that be at Google Towers.

So yes - search engines, and Google in particular, should be an important part of your online marketing mix. But nothing more than that - just one small part of the bigger whole. Especially with recent rumblings from the likes of Yahoo! and Microsoft, who are queuing up to topple Google’s throne, you would be wise to set your sights on achieving a medium profile on hundreds of websites rather than a high profile on just one.

Internet Basics: A Search Engine is Like a Librarian

November 23rd, 2008 by Author

Ever tell a librarian you want to find out about the Bermuda Triangle? Or maybe planting perennial bulbs? Or raising pit bulls? It probably didn’t matter what you were interested in, the librarian could point you in the right direction. Yet that’s all she did, point you in the right direction. She didn’t tell you the answer to your question. Why? Because she hasn’t memorized all the books in the library!

That’s what a search engine is like (kind of).

You ask it a question about anything, and it will spit back where you can go to look for it (or 100 000+ places you can go to look for it). The librarian told you to look in such and such a section of the library, while the search engine provides links you click on to go to specific websites.

The librarian knows where to point you because the library is organized into various areas of common interest, and the books are organized in a particular order. But the Internet is a little more willy nilly than that. And that makes the search engine’s job a lot more difficult than the librarian’s. Why?

Because that means the search engine has to read and memorize all the webpages first, so that it knows what’s in them. That way, when you ask about pit bulls, the search engine doesn’t just point you toward the “pets” area. Instead it says, “Ah, pit bulls. Of the 8 billion+ webpages I’ve read recently, here are the ones that talked about pit bulls.”

Obviously the search engine has to have a pretty good memory. Actually, it uses a database, which is just a way for computers to store information into specific slots for quick and easy retrieval later. When the search engine “reads” through all the webpages available out there, it makes note of what those webpages talk about. So when you ask about planting perennial bulbs, it’s no problem for the search engine to search through its own database of information and provide links for you to go to the very same pages it’s already skimmed that deal with tulips and the like.

And that’s why a search engine is like a librarian.
